The Lipusz – Korzybie ( Lippusch – Zollbrück ) line was a branch line of the Polish State Railway (PKP) within the Pomeranian Voivodeship . It is only operated between Lipusz and Bytów by the Stowarzyszenie Kolejowych Przewozów Lokalnych .

course

The railway line Lipusz – Korzybie runs from southeast to southwest and connects Kashubian Switzerland (Szwajcaria Kaszubska) with the area of today's landscape protection park Stolpetal Słupia (Lower Stolpe) and with the middle valley of the Wieprza (Wipper) over a length of 72 kilometers . The route passes through the three districts of Kościerzyna ( Berent / West Prussia ), Bytów ( Bütow ) and Słupsk ( Stolp ).

history

On November 20, 1883, the first section of the Lippusch – Zollbrück railway line was the section from Barnow (now in Polish: Barnowo) to Zollbrück (Korzybie). On May 20, 1884, it was cleared for passenger traffic. In Zollbrück there was a connection to the line from Neustettin (Szczecinek) to Stolp (Słupsk) and to the railway line to Rügenwalde (Darłowo) .

On August 15, 1884, the second section between Barnow and Bütow went into operation. Here in the district town the route to Rummelsburg (Miastko) and the route to Lauenburg / Pomerania (Lębork) branched off until 1945 .

It was not until 17 years later - on July 15, 1901 - that the last section from Bütow to Lippusch (Lipusz) and on to Berent / West Prussia (Kościerzyna) was put into operation. From Lippusch there was a connection to Konitz (Chojnice).

On June 28, 1920, the section from Bütow to Lippusch was closed to traffic and the tracks between Sonnenwalde (Róg) and Lippusch were dismantled. The reason was the demarcation between Poland and the German Empire (“ Polish Corridor ”). After the beginning of the war in 1939 , the line was restored.

In 1945 the section from Lipusz to Bytów was completely closed for five months. It was not released until August 9, 1945. 46 years later - on August 1, 1991 - the section from Bytów to Korzybie was closed to passenger traffic. On May 23, 1993, the section from Bytów to Lipusz followed. At present there is only freight traffic on this part of the route.

In the summer of 2016, passenger trains will run again on special services between Lipusz and Bytów.
