The Korzybie – Darłowo line is a branch line of the Polish State Railways (PKP), which runs from the north-western region of the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship to the northeast of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship to the Baltic Sea .

course

The railway line from Korzybie ( Zollbrück ) to Darłowo ( Rügenwalde ) runs for 35 kilometers from southeast to northwest and creates a connection between the Korzybie railway junction and the towns of Sławno ( Schlawe ) and Darłowo, with bathing traffic to the Baltic Sea being of particular importance. If the railway line initially runs parallel to the course of the Wieprza ( Wipper ) river , it only meets it again - which takes a wide arc to the northeast - at the destination.

The line between Sławno and Darłowo can be used by passenger trains at eighty kilometers per hour and freight trains at seventy kilometers per hour.

history

The train station in Korzybie ( Zollbrück )

For the small hinterpommersche village Zollbrück (Polish today: Korzybie) was of historical importance 1878: not only that on 1 October, the Prussian Eastern Railway their newly built stretch of Neustettin (Szczecinek) to Ustka (Ustka) took into operation, but also that now only six weeks later - on November 15 - the opening of the Zollbrück (Korzybie) –Rügenwalde (Darłowo) line, also newly built by the Prussian Eastern Railway, took place. Zollbrück thus became a railway junction within a few weeks, where the railway line from Zollbrück to Bütow (Bytów) was connected in 1884 and in 1921 - but only until 1945 - the railway line from Pollnow (Polanów) to Zollbrück merged .

In Schlawe (Sławno) the line met the Köslin (Koszalin) –Stolp (Słupsk) line, which had been in existence since 1869 , and was later followed by a connecting line to Stolpmünde (Ustka) and a small line of the Schlawer Bahnen to Pollnow (Polanów) and on to Breitenberg ( Gołogóra).

For Rügenwalde (Darłowo) the railway line is the only rail connection.

The Korzybie – Darłowo railway has PKP route number 418. In 2001, operations on the entire line were discontinued. In the following year, the Sławno – Darłowo section was completely overhauled and adjusted to the maximum speed of 100 km / h. Passenger traffic on this section of the route was resumed on June 20, 2005, but stopped again on December 11, 2011.

In February 2017 it was announced that trains from Sławno to Darłowo would run again for about one and a half months in the summer of the same year, in 2018 a decision should be made on a possible permanent reactivation of passenger traffic. On June 23, 2018, traffic was resumed at least until the end of 2018.
