The Salerno – Avellino – Benevento railway is located in Campania and connects the provinces of Salerno , Avellino and Benevento via the cities of the same name.

FS ALn 668

The Salerno – Avellino – Benevento route is of purely regional and not national importance for rail transport, with the exception of a single train per day that commutes to Rome. The line connects the capitals of the provinces of Salerno, Avellino and Benevento, as well as some other important centers such as Solofra, Fisciano and the University of Salerno.

The section from Mercato San Severino to Salerno was completed on September 30, 1990 after a construction period of 25 years. The remaining part has been in operation since the 19th century. The entire route is single-track and not electrified. Mainly railcars of the series FS ALn 668 and the Coradia-LINT are used.
