Bairradas is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district of Figueiró dos Vinhos . It has 487 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

history

Portugal's first king, D.Afonso Henriques , settled today's municipal area in 1147. After the reconquest by the Arabs , the place was largely destroyed, and after it was re- conquered in the course of the Reconquista , King Sancho I had the town rebuilt and settled in 1189. It was part of the municipality of Figueiró dos Vinhos before it was spun off as an independent municipality on January 1, 1985.
