Bakerhill or Baker Hill is a town in Barbour County in the state of Alabama in the United States .

Bakerhill is located in southeast Alabama in the southern United States. It is located approximately 20 kilometers west of the Georgia border and 183 square kilometer Walter F. George Lake , which is crossed by the 692 kilometer long Chattahoochee River .
Nearby locations include Eufaula (6 km east), Clayton (13 km northwest), Blue Springs (18 km southwest), Abbeville (18 km south), and Louisville (13 km west). The next larger city with 205,000 inhabitants is the capital of Alabama, Montgomery, about 100 kilometers to the northwest .
history
The city was founded around 1860 as Chestnuttville about a mile southwest of the present location. It was given its current name in the middle of the 19th century. Turpentine was already being produced and bauxite mined in the city early on .

Alabama State Route 131 runs from the southwest to the northeast of the city and joins Alabama State Route 10 in the west and US Highway 431 in the east .

Demographics
The 2010 census showed a population of 279, divided between 117 households and 79 families. The population density was 39 people per square kilometer. 61.3% of the population were white, 35.5% black and 0.7% Indian. 0.7% were of a different ethnicity , 1.4% had two or more ethnicities, and 1.1% were Hispanics or Latin Americans of any ethnicity. For every 100 women there were about 89 men, the average age was 44 years.
