Peter von Dieury

Peter von Dieury , actually Peter Györy (* 1700 in Hungary , † 1756 in Raab ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the 7th Hussar Regiment .

Life

He was initially in Austrian service, where he was promoted to Rittmeister in Hussar Regiment No. 6 on May 6, 1736 and to major in 1740 . In the First Silesian War he fought against Prussians and French. On December 26, 1742, he rose to lieutenant colonel and became interim commander of the regiment. At the beginning of January 1743 the regiment stopped with obviously poor security. The French succeeded in an attack in which the staff and three companies were captured. Dieury came before a court martial after his replacement in April and then said goodbye.

He went into Prussian service on September 30, 1743 . There he became colonel and chief of the hussar regiment No. 7. However, he stayed with King Friedrich II. On February 19, 1744 he was appointed major general and on April 22, 1744 he received approval to join his regiment. On May 15, 1744 he received a letter from the king asking him to train horses and teams. On December 28, 1744, he entered Zülichau with his regiment. He also took part in the Second Silesian War . On April 5, 1746 he received his resignation with a pension of 600 thalers and income from the regiment for life. Nevertheless, Dieury asked permission to return to Hungary with his son - a lieutenant in the hussar regiment. The permit was granted on May 1, 1746, and he should also receive his pension there.
