Ballauf-Wilhelmswörth is the name for the largest nature reserve in Mannheim and for a complementary landscape protection area .

The nature reserve (protected area number 2.173) has a size of 340.9 hectares and is located in the far north-west of Mannheim. It runs in the form of a tube on the eastern bank of the Rhine and belongs to the northern part of the Upper Rhine Lowland . The alluvial forest in this area is one of the original alluvial forests in the region , along with the Reißinsel . The areas next to the alluvial forest have diverse, small-scale habitats. The species-rich avifauna and the large variety of insects should be emphasized . The nature reserve was designated on December 27, 1993 to secure and maintain it.

The protected landscape area of ​​the same name (protected area number 2.22.007) was already designated on June 18, 1980 and originally also comprised the areas of the nature reserve. The remaining area adjoins the nature reserve immediately to the east and has a size of 42.8 hectares.
