Baltasar Albéniz Martínez (born January 6, 1905 in Eibar , † November 29, 1978 in Pamplona ) was a Spanish football player and coach .
Career
From 1930 to 1935, Baltasar Albéniz played for several Basque clubs as a defender. In 1935 he ended his football career at Arenas Club de Getxo and was their coach that same year. He headed the team until the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War in 1936. It was not until 1941 that he returned to the coaching bench at Celta Vigo . After a detour to Espanyol Barcelona , he was signed by Real Madrid in 1947 . He won the Copa del Rey with the Merengues in 1947 , left the capital to coach Deportivo Alavés for a year and returned to Real Madrid in October 1950 as the successor to the laid-off Englishman Michael Keeping , where he did so in March of the following year was replaced by the Uruguayan Héctor Scarone .
In 1951 he was appointed assistant coach of the Spanish national team and worked for the Selección for a year . He then returned to the Basque Country, where he coached CA Osasuna and Athletic Bilbao . With the latter, Albéniz won the Copa del Rey again in 1958. After a short detour to UD Las Palmas in the 1958/59 season, he still worked as a coach for Basque clubs and ended his career in 1971 with CA Osasuna.
