Bampton Classical Opera
Bampton Classical Opera is a Bampton, Oxfordshire based opera company specializing in the production of lesser-known classical operas. Performances are always sung in English.
She works with a wide variety of conductors and ensembles and has no permanent music director. It performs with both modern and historical instrument orchestras and has often performed with the London Mozart Players and the Chroma Ensemble. In particular, it aims to offer performances for young singers.
Bampton Classical Opera is a finalist for an International Opera Award 2020 , in the Rediscovery category for Gli sposi malcontenti by Stephen Storace , which was produced in 2019. This was the second British production ever.
In 2020 and 2021, the company Pâris et Hélène by Christoph Willibald Gluck plans to play.
history
Bampton Classical Opera was founded in 1993 by current artistic directors Gilly French and Jeremy Gray. After staging Mozart's rare unfinished opera L'oca del Cairo (The Cairo Goose) in 1994, the company began specializing increasingly in rare classical works, mostly from the second half of the 18th century.
Venues
The company's staged opera productions will be performed in a garden in Bampton and in Westonbirt House, the premises of Westonbirt School, and in St. John's, Smith Square, London .
From time to time it toured other UK venues and festivals including Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room in London, the Buxton Festival, Cheltenham Music Festival and others.

Young Singers' Competition
The company launched a biennial competition for young singers in 2013, with the public finale in the Holywell Music Room in Oxford .
