content

Framed by quotes from world-famous, non- conformist writers ( Oscar Wilde , Mark Twain , Hunter S. Thompson etc.), short statements from the 13 residents and operators of Bar 25 are captured. You can find out about their lives in the construction vehicles and wooden huts, about the construction of the area from waste wood, team meetings and party preparations. Impressions of the partying crowd, DJs, performance artists and the confetti, foam and fog machines that are in use, as well as a short concert sequence by the Bonaparte group, are shown .

When the club threatens to close, two actors from the bar go to an event by Klaus Wowereit and want to show the cultural value of the location with an oversized postcard. Wowereit explains here that things are complicated here . Another extension could be obtained from the Berlin regional court. Although the club only had a few months left, new wooden buildings were being worked on. The last party ends with a backward countdown, a siren sounds and tears flow.

Finally, a final memorial event with candles and campfires will be held on the area that has now been dismantled.

criticism

“The two directors themselves moved in the Bar25 cosmos for a long time, so you shouldn't expect too much criticism from the film: The cold door policy , which doesn't quite fit into the cuddly we-happy- hippies self-image, is dismissed as an annoying necessity ; The drugs that made it possible for some to dance for three days are not talked about at all (...) Not bad. With a camera that is always a bit distant, a (of course) great soundtrack and a lot of love for the protagonists, the film manages to get even a sober cinema audience to celebrate; to convey a party feeling that maybe was really unique. Mischer and Yuriko call their work "documentary fairy tales", and that fits - a myth becomes tangible here, not demystified. "

"Shielded from the rest of the world, fun reigns here, electronic beats set the rhythm and the mostly bizarre people join their kind - so the city-famous bouncer explains in one scene that it is difficult to enter the gray outside world and that she avoids it Possibility to leave the premises on the banks of the Spree . Recurring montages of stylish HD - Handheld -images, to driving electronic music document the excesses of the night owls, put in a celebratory mood (...) Conclusion: With their subjective documentary "Bar 25 - days outside of time" set Britta mixer and Nana Yuriko the now closed Berlin scene club a cinematic monument. They are particularly interested in conveying a certain attitude towards life, which they succeed with over long distances with atmospheric HD images. "

“In its better moments, days outside of time actually allow a glimpse behind the scenes and shows what Bar 25 was all about when there was no music playing, no Jägermeister served and no mud fights taking place: a lot of physical work, village social structures and difficult discussions . "
