Die Bar eines Vernunft is a theater in the Berlin district of Wilmersdorf ( Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district ), in which the genres of chanson , cabaret , concert and musical are presented in a historical mirror tent . The audience sits at small tables or in boxes, it can also be fed.

The bar of every reason is located on Schaperstraße on the parking deck of the Haus der Berliner Festspiele behind the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK).

The name of the theater is a play on words around the old German word bar ('naked', 'without anything'), which is rarely used today : “ without any reason”.

program

The performances focus on chanson, cabaret and musical comedy . The program varies; both well-known and largely unknown actors appear. Brigitte Mira , Evelyn Künneke , Helen Vita and the Pfister siblings , for example, played in the bar of every reason . Michael Mittermeier celebrated his first successes outside of Bavaria here .

The bar became known nationwide in 1994, primarily through the new production of the operetta Im Weißen Rößl (directed by Ursli Pfister , with Otto Sander , Geschwister Pfister , Max Raabe , Meret Becker and others). The piece was recorded by ZDF and also broadcast by the Franco-German broadcaster Arte .

On October 23, 2004 the musical Cabaret celebrated its premiere in the bar every reason. The production by Vincent Paterson and the costumes by Fiona Bennett shaped the play until the last day of the match on March 30, 2008. In June 2008, the song program Two started on a bench with Katharina Thalbach and Andreja Schneider .

On March 1, 2014, the musical version of La Cage aux Folles ('A Cage Full of Fools') was performed, directed by theater and opera director Bernd Mottl . The musical that promotes tolerance ( I Am What I Am ) was then on the program several times for a few weeks.

history

The Art Nouveau mirror tent was built in 1912 in the Netherlands as Danse Paleis . Originally it was used as a seasonal ball and dance tent in fashionable seaside resorts in Flanders and the Netherlands. In 1930 it was shown at the world exhibition in Antwerp ; later it went out of style. The producer Ueli Hirzel bought it in the early 1980s and handed it over to the founders of Bar every Vernunft , Lutz Deisinger and Holger Klotzbach , in 1992 .

The bar of every reason opened on June 5, 1992 with Ars Vitalis . Other first artists were the Pfister siblings, Meret Becker, Georgette Dee , Tim Fischer , Cora Frost and Otto Sander, one of the bar's patrons.

In 2002, for the tenth anniversary of its existence, an event tent twice as large, the tipi at the Chancellery , was opened in the Großer Tiergarten . It has 550 seats and a large stage.
