The Barcelona Sporting Club , Barcelona SC for short , also known in German-speaking countries as Barcelona SC Guayaquil , is a football club founded in 1925 by Spanish emigrants in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil . The club was founded on May 1, 1925 by immigrants from Catalonia and named after FC Barcelona . The club plays in the colors yellow, black and red, whereby yellow and red originally come from the flag of Catalonia or the city arms of its capital Barcelona and were the only jersey colors from 1927 to 1960. With 15 titles, the club is the record champion in Ecuador. It is played in the “ Estadio Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo ” stadium , which has a capacity of 85,000 spectators. Since January 2007 it bears the advertising name "Estadio Banco de Pichincha ". With almost 100,000 registered members, Barcelona SC Guayaquil is one of the largest football clubs in the world.
