Barthélémy Djabla

Barthélémy Djabla (* 1936 in Mahibouo , Ivory Coast , † September 15, 2008 in Abidjan ) was Archbishop of Gagnoa on the Ivory Coast (République de Côte d'Ivoire).

Life

After attending school in Daloa, Barthélémy Djabla studied philosophy from 1956 to 1959 at the seminary in Quida in Benin . After his military service from 1959 to 1960 he studied theology at the major seminary in Anyama and was ordained a priest on March 15, 1964 in Gagnoa . After pastoral activities as vicar, pastor and in training, he was rector of the Saint-Dominique Savio seminary in Gagnoa from 1971 to 1978. From 1978 to 1990 he was pastor in Divo .

1989 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of San Pedro-en-Côte d'Ivoire . He was ordained bishop on January 7, 1990 by the Archbishop of Abidjan Bernard Cardinal Yago ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Gagnoa Noël Kokora-Tekry and the Bishop of Man and later Cardinal Bernard Agré . In 2006 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Gagnoa . For many years he was Vice-President of the Bishops' Conference of the Ivory Coast.

He died in the Polyclinique Internationale Sainte Anne-Marie (PISAM) in Abidjan.
