Bartok the Magnificent (Original Title: Bartok the Magnificent ) is a fantasy - Cartoons from the year 1999 by the directors Don Bluth and Gary Goldman .

action

The protagonist of the film is the albino bat Bartok, who had already appeared as a supporting character in the film Anastasia . The action takes place in pre-revolutionary Russia .

Bartok and his friend, the bear Zozi, are traveling as a duo of jugglers in Moscow and tell of the heroic adventurers they have experienced. The young Prince Ivan is also enthusiastic about Bartok's stories.

One night Ivan is kidnapped. His adviser Ludmilla tells the people that the witch Baba Jaga kidnapped the prince. The people appeal to Bartok to save Ivan. Bartok and Zozi go on a journey to the forest where Baba Jaga lives. Once there, Bartok is told by the witch that she will only release Ivan if Bartok brings her three special items. Bartok fulfills the tasks assigned to him, but Baba Yaga informs him that she has not kidnapped the prince and that he is still in Moscow. She also brews a magical potion from the items brought to her, which she gives to Bartok.

Bartok and Zozi return to Moscow, where Ludmilla has since taken over the reign of the city. Bartok eventually finds Ivan, who is locked in a tower. At that moment, Ludmilla reveals that it was she who ordered Ivan's capture, blaming Baba Yaga for taking over the Russian throne. She steals Bartok's magical potion and drinks it herself, which causes her to transform into a giant dragon and begin destroying Moscow. A fight breaks out between Bartok and Ludmilla, which ends with the fact that he lures them to the top of the tower in which Ivan was imprisoned. The tower collapses and Ludmilla is killed. In the end, Bartok is celebrated as a hero.
