The Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I (from 2008 to 2019: AB InBev UK ; until 2008: Interbrew UK ) is an English beverage company with headquarters in Luton . The company has a market share of 17.7%.

history

The origin of today's AB-InBev UK Limited is the takeover of Bass Brewery by what was then Interbrew in 2000. In the same year Interbrew also took over The Whitbread Beer Company , at that time the third largest brewery group in the United Kingdom. After review by British authorities, Interbrew was forced to sell three of the acquired breweries. The buyer was Molson-Coors . Including the Bass Brewery in Burton-upon-Trent, but not the Bass brand. In March 2019, AB-InBev UK changed its name to Budweiser Brewing Group UK&I .

Boddingtons Brewery

Strangeways Brewery in Manchester

The Boddingtons Brewery (also Strangeways Brewery) in Manchester dates back to 1778. The Boddingtons brand goes back to Henry Boddington who bought the brewery in 1853. In 1989 the brewery was taken over by Whitbread. In 2005 the brewery was closed. The Boddingtons brand beers have been brewed in Samlesbury ever since. The draft beer, however, at the Hydes Brewery. Hydes is a private brewery that makes the beers on a contract brewing basis for AB InBev UK.

Camden Town Brewery

In 2010, Camden Town Brewery was founded in London as a craft brewery . In 2015, the brewery was acquired by AB-InBev for £ 85mn. The annual production is around 60,000 hl. To expand capacity, Camden Town is currently building a second, larger brewery in Enfield .

Magor Brewery

The brewery in Wales Magor was built in 1979 by Whitbread. Today the beers of the Stella Artois and Budweiser brands are brewed there for the British market. In 2015, 308 workers worked there. Today Magor Brewery is AB InBev UK's largest. Around 4.5 million hl of beer are produced annually.

Mortlake Brewery

The Samlesbury Brewery was established by Whitbread in 1972. Today beers of the brands Stella Artois, Budweiser, Brahma , Bass and Boddingtons are brewed there. The 250 employees produce around 2.5 million hl of it annually.

Stag Brewery

The Stag Brewery is located in the London borough of Mortlake on the banks of the Thames . Beer was brewed there in a monastery as early as 1487. The Stag Brewery itself dates back to 1514. In 1898 the James Watney & Co. Brewery took over the Mortlake brewery. The brewing company later becomes known as Watney Combe & Reid and Watney Mann . The Stag Brewery was sold to Anheuser-Busch by Watney Mann in 1991 . In 2015 the brewery was closed. Most recently, Budweiser brand beers were brewed there. The land was acquired by the Singaporean City Development Limited , and apartments were built on.

Wellpark Brewery

The Glasgow brewery was founded in 1740. In 2000 it was taken over by Interbrew. In August 2009 the brewery was sold to the Scottish cider producer C&C Group.
