The Baumbach is an almost 6 km long, south-eastern or right-hand tributary of the Schwalm in Hesse .

The Baumbach rises near the village of Rockshausen in the municipality of Wabern . It is fed by two sources which are approx. 200 meters apart and within agricultural areas. After the confluence of the two source streams, the Baumbach flows south past Rockshausen. Between Rockshausen and Falkenberg , the Ketschbach ( ) joins the Baumbach on the left. The Baumbach then flows in a westerly direction north past Falkenberg. On the B 254 the Baumbach swings in a northerly direction, flows on the southwestern outskirts of Unshausen for a while along the Bachstrasse and then leaves the village to flow further north through the fields.

To the north-west of Unshausen, near the B 253 , the Baumbach flows into the Schwalm.

The Baumbach covers around six kilometers from the source to the mouth and overcomes a difference in altitude of 123 meters.
