The gmina wiejska Bełchatów [ bɛwˈxatuf ] is an independent rural municipality in Poland in the powiat Bełchatów in the Łódź Voivodeship . Its seat is in the city of Bełchatów ( German Belchatow ). The rural community, to which the city of Bełchatów itself does not belong, has an area of 180.4 km², on which (as of June 30, 2019) 11,497 people live.

The rural community is located south of Łódź . 53% of the municipal area is used for agriculture, 35% is covered with forest.
history
From 1975 to 1998 the rural community belonged to the Piotrków Voivodeship .
