Beate Goertz
Beate Görtz (born July 3, 1969 in Hückelhoven ) is a German duathlete and triathlete . She is Ironman winner (2018), three-time age class winner at the Ironman World Championships (2010, 2011, 2019) and is listed in the table of Ironman Hawaii age class records.
Career
Beate Görtz started her first triathlon in Cologne in 2007 at the age of 38.
Ironman World Championship 2010
In 2010, with her third place at Ironman Austria, she qualified for a starting place at the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii. There she undercut the existing course record set by a professional triathlete the previous year in her age group by 13 seconds and won the Ironman World Championship in her age group women 40-44.
In October 2011 she was able to repeat this success: She finished the race as the second best German with a new course record among the amateurs and thus again won the Ironman World Championship for the 40-44 age group. Since 2012 she starts as a professional and in July it was in Roth as fourth best German starter Sixth in Triathlon Championship on long distance. In May 2015, she was twelfth at the European Championships on the triathlon middle distance.
With the Ironman Vichy in August 2018, the then 49-year-old was able to win her first Ironman race.
Beate Görtz lives in Cologne and starts triathlon for the ASV Cologne .
