Beatrice is a town in Monroe County in the US state of Alabama . The place has a total area of 3.5 km 2 . At the 2010 census, the population fell to 301, after 412 in 2000.

Beatrice is located in southwest Alabama in the southern United States.
Nearby places include Vredenburgh (11 km northwest), Monroeville (22 km south), Oak Hill (23 km northeast) and Pine Apple (24 km northeast). The next larger city with 205,000 inhabitants is the capital of Alabama, Montgomery, about 95 kilometers northeast .
history
Beatrice was built in 1899 by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad as a stop on the route between Pine Apple and Repton . It was named after the project manager's granddaughter. The land required for this was donated by a local family. The city developed as a freight center, especially for cotton products from the surrounding farms. The first bank opened in 1907.

On the same route, Alabama State Route 21 and Alabama State Route 47 run through the city from south to east. In the center of town is the southern end of Alabama State Route 265 . About 30 kilometers to the southwest there is a connection to US Highway 84 , about 40 kilometers east to Interstate 65 .
About 28 kilometers northwest is Camden Municipal Airport , 30 kilometers southwest of Monroe County Airport , 50 kilometers west of Grove Hill Municipal Airport and 55 kilometers northeast of Mac Crenshaw Memorial Airport .
