Beaussais is a village in the French department of Deux-Sèvres in the region Nouvelle-Aquitaine . The previously independent municipality was merged with Vitré to form Commune nouvelle Beaussais-Vitré with effect from January 1, 2013 . Since then, it has had the status of a commune déléguée with 441 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). Neighboring towns are La Couarde in the north, Sepvret in the east, Saint-Léger-de-la-Martinière in the southeast, Melle in the south, Celles-sur-Belle in the southwest and Vitré in the west. The residents call themselves Beausséens or Beausséennes.
