Becchara Palmer (born June 18, 1988 in Adelaide ) is an Australian beach volleyball player .
Career
Palmer was discovered by talent scouts in 2003. She made her first international appearance at the 2005 World Youth Championship in Saint-Quay-Portrieux when she finished ninth with Alice Rohkamper . At the Junior World Championships 2006 in Mysłowice , the two Australians achieved the same result. They won the title at the Youth World Cup that year in Bermuda . In 2007 Palmer first played a few open tournaments with Eileen Romanowski before she got back together with Rohkamper and reached the final of the Junior World Championships in Modena with her . Gold in Bermuda and silver in Modena were the only medals in junior competitions for Australia so far. The following year they finished fifth at Brighton . At the beginning of 2008 Palmer already formed a new duo with Heike Jensen . Palmer / Jensen qualified for the 2009 World Cup in Stavanger . There they only won one set and were eliminated after the preliminary round.
At the Grand Slam in Marseille, Palmer played for the first time with Louise Bawden . A little later, Bawden / Palmer reached the final of the Open tournament in Stare Jabłonki and placed fifth in the Kristiansand Open. They also won the national championship in 2009. In 2010 and 2011 the two Australians achieved further top ten results in the international tournament series. At the 2011 World Cup in Rome , they came into the knockout phase as group winners without losing a set. After a victory in the first main round against a Chinese duo, they had to admit defeat to the Czechs Klapalová / Háječková in three sets in the round of 16 and finished in ninth place. In the same year Bawden / Palmer reached fifth place in the continental championship of the AVC . In 2012, they scored a fifth place in Sanya and three ninth places. After the preliminary round at the Olympic Games in London , Bawden and Palmer split.
From the end of 2013 to the end of 2014 Becchara Palmer played together with Zina Stone and from 2015 to 2017 with various partners. In 2019 Palmer forms a new duo with Nicole Laird , with whom she won the FIVB 3-star tournament in Sydney .
