Belden Bullock

Belden Bullock (born December 26, 1957 in Boston ) is an American jazz musician ( double bass ) of modern jazz .

Live and act

Bullock started out playing the electric bass before switching to the double bass when he was 15. He studied at Berklee College of Music from 1977-81 and played in the bands of George Adams , Roy Haynes , Andrew Hill and Ahmad Jamal in the 1980s ; from the 1990s he worked a. a. with James Weidman , with Oliver Lake , of whose quintet and String Project he was a member, also with Greg Osby , Donald Harrison , Kevin Eubanks , James Spaulding , Talib Kibwe , Jay Hoggardand in the Ralph Peterson Fo'tet. Until 2001 he was also a member of the Spirit of Life Ensemble . Since 1998 he has played with Abdullah Ibrahim (albums such as African Magic , 2002, with Sipho Kunene ; Sotho Blue , 2010), with whom he a. a. also made guest appearances at the Leverkusen Jazz Days .

Most recently, Bullock performed in New York jazz clubs such as Smalls with musicians such as Falkner Evans and Greg Murphy , at the local level and others. a. with Stephen Fuller, John David Simon, Nick Verdi and Macy Chen & The Pittman / Daniels Quartet. Bullock also appeared on the TV series A Crime to Remember .
