The Belgenbach rises about one kilometer east of Konzen at an altitude of 532  m above sea level. NN . From here the brook flows mainly in south-eastern directions. He marks the border between Monschau and Simmerath . After a river stretch of 4 km, the Drosselbach flows from the north ; the Belgenbach flows after another 400 m about 300 m north of Widdau at 350  m above sea level. NN on the left in the Rur . With a height difference of 182 m, the mean bed slope is 41.4 ‰. The Belgenbach drains an 8,697 km² catchment area via the Rur and Maas to the North Sea .

The Belgenbachtal is predominantly forested. Various rock formations protrude from and above its steep slopes. The Belgenbacher Mühle is located in the valley . On the steep slope near the confluence of the Drosselbach, the Alsdorfer Bergmannskreuz stands on a ledge.
