Belle Air was an Albanian low-cost airline based in Tirana and based at Tirana Airport .

history

Belle Air was founded in 2005 by several investors in Albatros Airways , a former Albanian low-cost airline. Flight operations began in March 2006.

In the summer of 2009, the subsidiary Belle Air Europe was founded in Italy . The new regional airline based at Ancona Airport was founded in order to initially connect flight destinations in Southeastern Europe, Italy and Western Europe with an ATR 72-500 .

In November 2011, the Albanian aviation authorities prohibited the operation of a McDonnell Douglas MD-82 from Belle Air due to lack of maintenance.

On November 25, 2013, the company ceased operations for economic reasons. The fleet was returned to the lessor.

Destinations

Various Italian cities such as Bari , Bergamo , Genoa , Pisa , Rome , Trieste and Verona , as well as the Kosovar capital Priština , and from summer 2009 also Stuttgart and Zurich were flown to from Tirana airport . In some cases, destinations such as New York City , Sharm El-Sheikh , Tel Aviv-Jaffa and the Turkish Riviera were also served in the charter . From Pristina there was also a direct connection to Liège . At its base, Tirana Airport, Belle Air transported 44 percent, almost half of the passengers carried there.
