Belo sur Mer is a city on the west coast of Madagascar with about 8,000 inhabitants.
Geographical location
Belo sur Mer is located 5 m above sea level in the Menabe region , in the Toliara province , approx. 90 km south of Morondava on the Mozambique Strait .
The Kirindy-Mitea National Park is not far from the village.
economy
The inhabitants of Belo sur Mer, who mostly belong to the Sakalava people , live 60% from agriculture, where they mainly grow corn, lima beans and sweet potatoes . 30% of the population live from fishing, 10% work in industry. In Belo sur Mer there are also some salt pans where table salt is extracted. Shipbuilders who make traditional dhows also live in the village .
