Bembe is a small town ( Vila ) and a county in Angola .
history
The origins of the village lie in the local copper mine, which was used from 1856. A small village was created with the Igreja de São José do Bembe church . In the course of the expansion of Portuguese colonial rule over the colony of Angola, a first fortress was built here around 1861, the Fortaleza do Bembe . Bembe was later elevated to a small town ( Vila ) and the seat of its own district. Even after Angola's independence in 1975, Bembe remained an independent circle.
