Born in Britain, Cavet grew up in Crowborough, East Sussex, England, and moved to France with his family when he was 10 years old. In 2012 he received French citizenship.
From 2009 to 2011 Cavet mainly took part in the European Cup. His best results were four second places. In March 2011 he won silver in the Moguls competition at the Junior World Championships in Jyväskylä . In the same month he became French Mughal and Dual Mughal Master. He completed his first World Cup race in December 2011 in Ruka and took 19th place in the Moguls competition. In March 2012 he won again at the French championship in Tignes in the Moguls. At the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi , he finished eighth in the Mughal competition. At the end of the 2013/14 season he first achieved his first top 10 placement in Voss with fifth place in the Moguls and his first podium finish in the World Cup in La Plagne with third place in the Dual Moguls. A week later he won the silver medal in the moguls and the gold medal in the dual moguls at the junior world championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco .
At the beginning of the 2015/16 season , Cavet took second place in the dual moguls in Ruka. In the further course of the season he came in all World Cup participations in the top eight, including 3rd place in Tazawako and 2nd place in Moscow . At the end of the season, he achieved tenth place in the overall World Cup and third place in the Mughal World Cup. In the following season he reached nine places in the top ten in eleven World Cup appearances, including three third and three second places. Thus he reached fifth place in the overall world cup and second place in the Moguls world cup. At the Freestyle Skiing World Championships 2017 in the Sierra Nevada , he won the silver medal in the Moguls, and he was ninth in the Dual Moguls. In the 2017/18 season, he finished six in the top ten, including second place in the Dual Mouls in Megève , and sixth in the Moguls World Cup. At the season highlight, the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he achieved 25th place in the Moguls. After finishing second in the Moguls in Ruka at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, he came third in the Dual Moguls in Thaiwoo and Tazawako . In January 2019 he won his first World Cup victory at the Moguls in Lake Placid and at the end of the season he finished sixth in the overall World Cup and third in the Moguls World Cup. At the 2019 Freestyle Skiing World Championships in Park City , he finished sixth in the Dual Moguls and fifth in the Moguls. At the beginning of March 2019 he won bronze in the Dual Moguls and gold in the Moguls at the Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk . In the 2019/20 season he finished ninth in the overall World Cup and again third in the Moguls World Cup. He achieved two second and two third places.
