Benjamin Förster (born November 14, 1989 in Karl-Marx-Stadt ) is a German football player .

Career

Benjamin Förster began playing football in his hometown at the SG Handwerk Rabenstein district club . From 1996 to 2014 he played with Chemnitzer FC , apart from a one-year break with TSV IFA Chemnitz . With the A-Juniors of the CFC, he managed to stay in the A-Juniors Bundesliga twice and contributed 31 goals. On November 25, 2007 he made his league debut for the first team in the Oberliga Nordost-Süd when he was substituted on in the game against Budissa Bautzen . In 2008, persistent back pain prevented him from playing for nine months. Even after several doctor's visits, no solution to this problem was in sight, so that Förster was about to end his career. Finally, Förster's advisor contacted his ex-client Michael Ballack to ask for an appointment with Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt . Müller-Wohlfahrt diagnosed Förster with pelvic inclination , which could be treated with an injection cure and chiropractic treatment.

The 2010/11 season was extremely successful for Förster. At the turn of the year he was already leading the regional league scorers list with 18 goals in 17 games, including five goals in one game in a 6-0 win over Hamburger SV II on matchday 13 . In the DFB Cup, Chemnitzer FC eliminated Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli 1-0 in the first round . In the next round, Chemnitzer FC was about to throw VfB Stuttgart out of the tournament. A goal by Förster gave CFC a 1-0 lead, but in the end the Bundesliga team won 3-1 after extra time. On the penultimate matchday, Förster scored the goal for a 1-0 win over RB Leipzig . With this victory, his team was promoted to the third professional league. Förster scored a total of 25 times this season, making him the top scorer. Although Förster had written a release clause in his contract, he decided to play for Chemnitzer FC in the 2011/12 season. With the promoted team, he finished ninth in the 3rd division in 2011/12 , after which the club extended his contract until 2013. In summer 2014 he moved to SV Elversberg and a year later to FSV Wacker 90 Nordhausen. In 23 games in the Regionalliga Nordost , he scored eight times. He also reached the semi-finals in the Thuringian State Cup with Nordhausen , which he lost 2-0 to FC Carl Zeiss Jena . In the summer of 2016, Förster was signed by Energie Cottbus , who had previously been relegated from the 3rd division. In his first season he scored 13 goals in 29 league games. In the following season, in which Energie was promoted again, he was only used four times and scored two goals. Due to persistent injury problems, he did not get more playing time and thus lost his regular place to Streli Mamba , who played very successfully for Cottbus. In order to gain match practice, he switched to regional league team VSG Altglienicke in summer 2018 .
