Benjamin F. Bailar
Benjamin Franklin Bailar (born April 21, 1934 in Champaign , Illinois , † February 20, 2017 ) was the United States Postmaster General from 1975 to 1978 .
Career
Benjamin Franklin Bailar went to the University of Colorado , where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in geology in 1955 . He then entered the United States Navy , where he served from 1955 to 1957 in the rank of lieutenant . After his discharge from the US Navy, he decided to go to Harvard University , where he did his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1959 . After graduating, he started working for ConocoPhillips that same year . He was employed there in the Coordinating and Planning Staff . He then carried out this activity until 1962. He then started working as a financial analyst for the American Can Company and was promoted to Vice President until 1972. He then moved to the United States Postal Service , where he was Senior Assistant Postmaster General for Support and Administration until 1974 . In 1974 he was promoted to Deputy Postmaster General , a position he held until 1975. He then held the post of Postmaster General until 1978. From 1978 he worked at USG Corporation , first as Executive Vice-President and then later as Director.
