Berestowe ( Ukrainian Берестове ; Russian Берестовое Berestowoje ) is a village in the southeast of the Ukrainian Oblast of Zaporizhia with about 2800 inhabitants (2001).

history

The village, founded in 1801 by settlers from the Poltava and Chernigov regions , got its name from the Berestowa River , which was named after the birch trees growing along the river bank. In the 19th century, the Orthodox Alexander Nevsky Church , which is now a national architectural monument, was built in the village .

geography

The village is located on the banks of the Berestowa ( Берестова ), a 22 km long right tributary of the Berda , 42 km north of the Berdjansk district center and 165 km southeast of the Zaporizhia Oblast center . Territorial road T – 08–19 runs through the village .
