Bergham is a district of the Stephansposching community in the Deggendorf district in Lower Bavaria .

location

The church village Bergham is located about three kilometers northeast of Stephansposching, east of Steinkirchen, in the immediate vicinity of the Danube in the Steinkirchen district .

history

In 916 the royal chaplain Reginolf received a hat in Bergham. Perchaim is mentioned later in the second Duke Surbar (before 1300). In the main team division made under Ludwig the Rich in 1464, Bergham is registered as one of twelve main teams of the Natternberg court. In 1474 and 1602 Bergham appears as a chairman.

Bergham came to the Steinkirchen tax district in 1811 and has been part of the Steinkirchen community since the community was formed in 1821. After they joined the Michaelsbuch community in 1971, Bergham came to the Stephansposching community on May 1, 1978.

In church terms, Bergham belongs to the parish of Michaelsbuch.

Attractions

  • Filial church of St. Laurentius. A previous church from around 1200 was followed by the current late Gothic brick shell from the 15th century. In the Baroque period, the entire church was raised by about one meter with bricks and the nave was newly vaulted. In the meantime, the church had the patronage of St. Peter and St. Paul and only since the second half of the 19th century was it again St. Laurentius. In 1905, instead of the previous ridge, the church received the tower and a vestibule that is present today. In the chancel there are Gothic frescoes, the high altar and the two corner altars are neo-Gothic.
