Bernd Frenz
Bernd Frenz (* 1964 in Nienburg / Weser ) is a German author and journalist.
Frenz completed a commercial apprenticeship and studied business administration. He then worked as a youth worker. He has been a freelance writer since 1998.
Frenz initially worked (also under the pseudonym Brian Frost ) on magazines such as Maddrax and Perry Rhodan . In 2005 he and Claudia Kern wrote the novel "STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl: Death Zone", which tells the prehistory of the end-of-time computer game STALKER - Shadow of Chernobyl . Two sequels (only by Frenz) followed.
From 2009 Frenz established himself as a fantasy author. Playing with genre conventions is often at the center of his novels. In the “Blood Orcs” trilogy (2009/2010) an orc rebels against his traditional role as a mindless henchman. In “Das Blut der Nibelungen” (2011) Frenz mixes the Siegfried saga with motifs of zombie horror ; the novel ironically claims to be the "real" story behind the "embellished" Nibelungenlied .
In 2011 his novel “Bannkrieger” was published, the sequel “Bannstreiter” was nominated for the Seraph Fantasy Prize in 2012 .
In 2017 Frenz published the first volume of his “Völkerkriege” trilogy with “Der Groll der Zwerge”. In 2019 the second volume, "The Power of the Elves" was published.
As a journalist, Frenz published articles and interviews in comic magazines such as "Comic-Report", Reddition , Comixene and The Speech Bubble . He also provided comic scenarios for Zack , the US magazine "Heavy Metal" and numerous licensed publications for TV series, including Angelo! , DreamWorks Dragons , Power Rangers or Wickie and the strong men .
Frenz lives and works in Hanover .
