Bernd Mahr

Bernd Mahr (born June 18, 1945 in Thannhausen ; † April 12, 2015 ) was a German mathematician who, among other things, held a professorship for theoretical computer science at the TU Berlin .

Life

Bernd Mahr received his diploma in mathematics at the TU Berlin in 1974 with distinction. He obtained his doctorate in 1979. rer. nat. at the TU Berlin in theoretical computer science. He worked as a research assistant at the TU Berlin from 1976 to 1981, as a visiting researcher at the Technion in Haifa from 1981 to 1982 , before going to Penn State University as an assistant professor (1982–1983).

From 1983 to 1985 he worked as a private lecturer and university assistant at the TU Berlin. In 1985 he was offered a C3 professorship at the University of Osnabrück in the field of theoretical computer science. In 1994 he moved to a C4 position at the TU Berlin. There he was head of the group “Formal Models, Logic and Programming (FLP)” in the Institute for Telecommunication Systems at the Computer Science Faculty.

His field was complexity theory , specification theory , type theory , logic and general model theory .

Bernd Mahr died on April 12, 2015 at the age of 69. The funeral and burial took place on April 27, 2015 at the state-owned cemetery in Heerstraße in Berlin-Westend . The grave site is 11-B-1.
