Bernd Gerd Rauw (born January 8, 1980 in Malmedy ) is a Belgian football player and coach .

Career

The midfielder , who comes from the town of Büllingen in the German-speaking community , joined FC Büllingen at the age of five. In 1990 he moved to Standard Lüttich's youth department , and in 1997 to Alemannia Aachen . In the 1998/99 season he was already a U-19 player in the first team in the regional league. Then the team rose to the 2nd Bundesliga and Rauw immediately found a place in the defense of the professional squad. In the third year he moved in front of the defense in midfield and played his first season as a regular. He then left Aachen after three years as a professional and 66 second division games and moved to the first division Arminia Bielefeld , making him the first German-speaking Belgian in the first division. This was followed by three eventful years with relegation to the 2nd division and immediate promotion. In his second first division season he played only irregularly in the first and often only in the second team. On July 1, 2005, Rauw moved back to Alemannia Aachen. Before the 2006/07 season, his contract in Aachen was dissolved after he had been used more in the Oberliga than in the second division team.

Rauw then went to MVV Maastricht in the Dutch Eerste Divisie , where he played 35 competitive games. For the 2007/08 season he moved from there again to Germany to Kickers Emden in the Regionalliga Nord , where his former coach from the second Aachen team, Stefan Emmerling, had taken over as coach. As a permanent fixture in the Emden defense, he and the team qualified for the new single-track 3rd division , where he consolidated the defense as a regular in 35 games this year.

For the 2009/10 season Rauw moved to the second division 1. FC Union Berlin , with whom he reached 12th place and thus relegation. In the season 2010/11 he came there on 20 missions. In both years he was temporarily sidelined due to injuries.

For the 2011/12 season he moved to third division club FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt and played again under coach Stefan Emmerling , under whom he had already played in Aachen and Emden. The contract was terminated early at the end of January 2013. At the beginning of February 2013 it was announced that Rauw was returning to his East Belgian homeland and joining FC Bütgenbach in the 3rd provincial class D (3rd division in the province of Liège , 7th division at state level) for the rest of the season , with whom he finally joined made it to the 2nd provincial class C.

Since the beginning of the 2013/14 season, Bernd Rauw has been working as a player- coach for Honsfelder SV, a club from his home town of Büllingen, with whom he also took on the 2nd provincial class C in his first season as a coach. At the end of the season, Rauw reached 4th place in the table with his team consisting almost exclusively of Honsfeld's own generation. Over the following round of promotion finally succeeded in promotion to the 1st provincial class, the highest league in the province of Liège and fifth highest league in Belgium. However, they benefited from the merger of two teams in the 1st provincial class.
