Bernhard Beschoren (born December 6, 1898 in Altlüdersdorf (today: Gransee OT Altlüdersdorf), † April 24, 1982 in Werneck ) was a German geologist .
Life
Bernhard Beschoren was the son of a pastor and attended high schools in Potsdam and Berlin-Wilmersdorf with the Abitur in 1916. After military service in World War I, he studied geology and natural sciences in Berlin and Freiburg im Breisgau and received his doctorate in Berlin in 1926 under Josef Felix Pompeckj ( cenoman and Turon of the chalk hollow of Sack near Alfeld ). From 1927 to 1938 he was at the Prussian Geological State Institute (PGLA), where he became a district geologist . Then he went to the American Petroleum Company in Denmark. In the Second World War he was a military geologist from 1940 (Poland, the Channel Islands Guernsey and Alderney , Netherlands) and was in English captivity from 1944. From 1946 he was at the Bavarian Geological State Office , where he retired in 1954 as a regional geologist .
He dealt with chalk in Lower Saxony, Westphalia and the Channel Islands, with Quaternary geology in Northern Germany, potash salt in the Werra region and petroleum geology, most recently with the tertiary of the Bavarian Molasse basin .
