IC 1000 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is around 253 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 70,000 light years . The galaxies IC 999 and IC 4410 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 23, 1892 .
