IC 999 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble-type S0 with an active galaxy core in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is around 259 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 60,000 light years. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with IC 1000 .
The galaxy and IC 4410 are in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 23, 1892 .
