IC 1002 is a spiral galaxy from the Hubble type S in the constellation virgin on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 364 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 75,000 ly.
In the same area of ​​the sky are the galaxies NGC 5551 , NGC 5575 , IC 1001 , IC 1003 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 29, 1892 .
