IC 995 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBd in the constellation Great Bear in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 145 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 65,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5526 , NGC 5561 , IC 996 , among others .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on July 2, 1888 .
