IC 977 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sab in the constellation Virgo to the ecliptic . It is about 390 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 80,000 light years .
The galaxies IC 978 and IC 985 are located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The object was discovered on July 8, 1893 by Stéphane Javelle .
