IC 991 is a spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type Sc in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 205 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxy IC 4392 is located in the same area of ​​the sky .

The Type II supernova NAME AT 2017ffk was observed here.

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on July 23, 1892 .
