IC 1007 is a compact galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type C in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 349 million light years from the Milky Way and approximately 40,000 light years in diameter.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 5619 , IC 1003 , IC 1016 .

The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on March 18, 1892 .
