IC 1014 is a faint  bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBdm in the constellation Bear Guardian in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 58 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 45,000 ly. 
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies NGC 5648 and NGC 5655 , among others .
The object was discovered by Truman Henry Safford on April 27, 1867 .
