IC 1011 is a very compact radio galaxy of Hubble type C in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is about 343 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 40,000 light years .
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy IC 1010 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on June 8, 1893 .
