IC 985 is a faint spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sb in the constellation Virgo on the ecliptic . It is about 395 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 55,000 light years .
The galaxies IC 977 and IC 978 are located in the same area of the sky .
The property was discovered by Francis Preserved Leavenworth on February 19, 1887 .
