Bernhard Blencke

Bernhard Blencke (born May 11, 1903 in Magdeburg , † October 22, 1979 in Möser ) was a German orthopedist and university professor.

Life

As the son of August Blencke , Bernhard Blencke initially studied medicine at the Philipps University of Marburg and the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg . On 17 December 1921 he was in the Corps Hasso Nassovia and on 24 October 1922 Corps Suevia Freiburg recipiert . When he was inactive , he switched to the University of Rostock , the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . In 1926 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. He completed his training in surgery and orthopedics with Max Kappis in Hanover, Arnold Wittek at the Graz Accident Hospital , Hermann Gocht at the Charité and with his father in Magdeburg. As his father's successor, he headed the private orthopedic clinic from 1937. During the Second World War he was a medical officer in the army . From 1947 he rebuilt the clinic, which had been destroyed by the air raid on Magdeburg on January 16, 1945 . He completed his habilitation in 1959 at the Medical Academy Magdeburg and received a teaching position for orthopedics. From 1961 he headed the establishment of the Orthopedic University Clinic Magdeburg. On October 1, 1963, he was appointed to the chair . Upon reaching retirement age, he retired in 1968.
