Berthold Seliger (Author)
Berthold Seliger (born 1960 in Rheinberg-Orsoy ) is a German concert promoter and publicist .
Life
Seliger grew up in Orsoy, Fürstenfeldbruck and Grafrath - Wildenroth . He studied music education . From 1980 to 2000 he lived in Fulda, where he worked as a teacher. In 1988 he founded a concert agency there, which operates under his name and as the “Office for Music, Texts & Strategies”. He has organized European tours for Calexico , Lambchop , Pere Ubu , The Residents , Tortoise , The Walkabouts and Townes Van Zandt, among others . He has also worked as a German tour operator for Lou Reed , Patti Smith , Bratsch, Van der Graaf Generator , Rufus Wainwright , Lucinda Williams , Bonnie 'Prince' Billy and Youssou N'Dour, among others .
Seliger publishes a regularly published newsletter , which in 2003 received the Mersha Award from Musikexpress , Rolling Stone and Metal Hammer for the “best newsletter” in the music industry. He also runs a blog. Seliger also regularly writes articles on music and cultural-political topics, for example in concrete , Berliner Zeitung , FAZ , Junge Welt and Freitag .
Since 2013 he has published several essayistic non-fiction books on the subject of "international music business" as a journalist . He gave keynote speeches at various national and international major educational events , for example at the Zurich music fair m4music.
Berthold Seliger has lived in Berlin since 2000.
