The Estádio do Bessa Século. XXI ( German Stadium of Bessa of the 21st Century , Estádio do Bessa for short ) is a football stadium in the Portuguese city of Porto and is the home of Boavista Porto .
history
The stadium hosted three group matches at the 2004 European Football Championship . It holds 28,263 spectators and was officially opened on December 30, 2003. The stadium, built by GRUPO3 Arquitectura and Arquitectos Associados , is owned by the Boavista Porto football club . In 2006 it was one of six stadiums in which the U-21 European football championship took place. The final between the Netherlands and Ukraine (3-0) was played at the venue on June 4th .
During the renovation, games continued to run as normal. Work on the east stand began on June 30, 1998, and was completed on August 4, 1999. In January 2000, work on the west stand began. It was inaugurated on November 9, 2001. After the north stand was torn down in April 2002, the playing field was moved and lowered. Then the south stand was rebuilt.
For the reopening of Do Bessa on December 30, 2003, a game between Boavista and FC Málaga took place, which ended 0-0.
