The Bethel Township is one of ten townships in Posey County in the US -amerikanischen State Indiana . In 2010 the Bethel Township had 311 residents.

geography

Bethel Township is located in southwest Indiana on the eastern bank of the Wabash River , which forms the border with Illinois . The Ohio River , which forms the border with Kentucky , is about 30 km south.

The Bethel Township is located at 38 ° 35 '  N , 90 ° 31'  W and extends over 51.34 km², which is spread over 49.42 km² of land and 1.92 km² of water.

The Bethel Township is located in the extreme northwest of Posey County and borders to the west and southwest - separated by the Wabash River - on White County in Illinois. In the north, the township borders on Gibson County . Within Posey County, Bethel Township borders Robb Township in the southeast .

traffic

The Interstate 64 , the St. Louis in Missouri with Louisville connects in Kentucky, extends in west-east direction by the Bethel Township. All other roads are subordinate and partly unpaved roads.

In a northwest-southeast direction runs a railway line of the Evansville Western Railway through the township that connects Mount Vernon , Illinois with Evansville , Indiana.

The Evansville Regional Airport is located about 45 km southeast of Bethel Township.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census , there were 311 people in 129 households in Bethel Township. The population density was 6.3 people per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.41 people lived in each of the 129 households.

Ethnically, the population consisted only of whites with two exceptions.

22.8 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 58.2 percent were between 18 and 64 and 19.0 percent were 65 years or older. 54.0 percent of the population was female.

The average annual income for a household was 51,250  USD . The per capita income was $ 18,379. 23.5 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.

In addition to scattered settlements, the population of the Bethel Township lives in Griffin (with the status " Town "), the only self-governing municipality in the township.
