Bettmaringen is a district of the city of Stühlingen in the Waldshut district in Baden-Württemberg .

geography

Bettmaringen is located in the southern Black Forest above the Steinatal west of Stühlingen. In the vicinity are the former Illmühle , the hamlet of Obere Alp with the Obere Alphof (golf course) and the hamlet of Mittlere Alp . They remind of the affiliation to the Alpgau , in the wider area are the places Ober- and Unterwangen , Mauchen , Wittlekofen , Birkendorf and Obermettingen . Not far from the Steina are the ruins of Steinegg Castle and the Roggenbacher Schlösser .

history

place

Bettmaringen is mentioned for the first time in 1125 (predium Pathemaringen) and was owned by the Lords of Bettmaringen, these are first mentioned in 1092 with an Altman de Batemaringa in connection with the Allerheiligen monastery in Schaffhausen. The brothers Heinrich and Wolfgang, knights of Bettmaringen, died in the battle of Sempach . Bettmaringen came to St. Blasien in part from 1290 through the barons of Krenkingen (nobilis vir Hainricus de Chrenchingen miles ..) . At times other sexes were also partners, such as the Im Thurn (1376), the von Erzingen and the von Egbotingen ( Ewattingen ). The Counts of Lupfen had high jurisdiction. Bettmaringen became Vogtssitz in 1417 and was its own rule from 1613 to 1806 within the county of Bonndorf , and in 1432 belonged to the St. Blasien monastery . From 1807 to 1812, Bettmaringen was an official seat of the House of Baden . The official seat was the rectory. On January 1, 1975, Bettmaringen was incorporated into the city of Stühlingen. The field name Tandlekofen is reminiscent of an abandoned settlement. From 1519 to 1532 Johannes Spielmann , a son from Bettmaringen, was abbot of the Benedictine Abbey of St. Blasien.

Office building

The former St. Blasische Amtshaus, a stately late-Gothic country house built during the reign (1541 to 1571) of the building-ready abbot Caspar Molitoris , with a spiral staircase tower, tiers, coat of arms, surrounding wall and gate coat of arms by Berthold Rottler was at times the pastor's apartment, from 1803 to 1806 it under the Grand Priory of the Order of Malta . Then for a short time in Württemberg in the same year Badisch, from 1828 a pastor lived in the office building, so it was always called the “parsonage”, not least because the church is right next to it (the actual parsonage was often rebuilt after fires, but was finally demolished in 1736 ). The official building, which was extensively renovated on the facade and roof from 1979 to 1980, is often called Schloss Bettmaringen . The interior was redesigned in the 18th century, but the upper floor with the baroque prelate rooms was preserved: an apartment with an alcove , fitted out around 1770 with an inlaid floor and fine stucco from the late Wessobrunn school . The building was sold to private customers by the state in 2013.

church

The church, which dominates the neighborhood of the office building towards the east, dates from 1760. The patron of the church before the renaming and donation of relics in 1785 under Prince Abbot Martin Gerbert to St. Fridolin was St. George .
